First stop: Georgetown. Georgetown was not at all what I was expecting. I was expecting to see cobblestone streets with rows of houses where George Washington slept. Kind of like this:

And the were plenty of scenes like that. What I didn't expect was the high falutin' commercial district that we strolled through. Fancy shops and restaurants and all kinds of young people dressed up for an evening on the town. A place to see and be seen. Down along the Potomac River there were several fancy bars where all the rich people drove their yachts up to the edge and let everyone know how well-off they were.
Among all of the glitz, however, was a cool little stone house:

The sign out front said that this house is the only pre-revolutionary structure still remaining in DC.

After Georgetown, we did a lot more driving around. We saw block after block of million dollar row houses. We took the scenic route down The George Washington Parkway, which runs up high, along the Potomac. We finally landed in a neighborhood called Cleveland Park, right by the Washington Zoo. In fact, we went in to a bar across the street from the zoo called - you guessed it - The Zoo Bar. It just an old blues bar, with a little stage in the front window and a small bar and a few tables for the customers to sit at.
We bellied up and the barkeeper poured us our beers. Then we saw a guy eating a burger, which looked really good. Me and Dave split one, and it was really good. The Yuengling beer wasn't bad either.
It was dark by the time we headed back to Donna's house, and she took us right through downtown DC, and it was hopping. It was cool to see all of the monuments lit up at night.
Driving through DC with the top down was fun. It was good to feel the wind blow through my hair (technically, it did) And see all if the sights with some great traveling companions.
